Kelsey is sitting on the ground on a rainbow striped picnic blanket, and she is working in her sketchbook. Her pencil pouches are open next to her on the picnic blanket. She is wearing a yellow and white gingham dress, and is smiling downwards.

I love spending time outdoors! I even like to draw and paint outdoors when I can.

When not creating artwork, I love to have picnics, drink tea, go on walks, read, and balance way too many hobbies!

Here is one of my very important studio assistants, Pixel. She is imperative to the art process.

Artist Statement

I create art that speaks to my inner child. I want the world to retain all the wonder and magic that we experience as children, and I create art to remind us of that magic. I love to highlight the importance of friendship and relationships in my artwork. Appreciating the small moments that make up our days by living slowly and mindfully is one of my core values. My traditional art focuses on watercolor and gouache paintings. I have also begun developing my digital art style. I am a self-taught artist located in Oregon, and I am thrilled to have you follow me along on my artistic journey.

Early Life and Influence

As a young child, one of my first careers that interested me was being an artist. I spent countless hours drawing in my room. I have loved art by Beatrix Potter, Cicely Mary Barker, Tasha Tudor, Sir John Tenniel, E. H. Shepard, and Arnold Lobel since my early childhood. I had a long, art dry spell from my tween years until after I graduated college. Adult acquaintances and teachers have large influence in children’s lives, and I think it’s important for children to have that support to pursue their passions. I have always been obsessed with whimsical, nature-inspired imagery, so when the term cottagecore entered my vocabulary in 2020, I was so excited to finally have. Aterm that perfectly spoke to a vibe I love. I love browsing #cottagecore on social media, and I hope other fans enjoy my art style too!

Artist Career

After graduating college and having more free time, I began missing the creative outlet art had provided me. I was especially interested in painting because of the beautiful art I would see on Pinterest and YouTube. I went to my local art store and purchased a pad of watercolor paper, a small paint palette, and two brushes. I started off painting by creating studies of other paintings I would find online and by creating hand painted cards for my family and loved ones. I did not begin regularly painting until the pandemic forced everyone to spend more time at home. In 2020, I began creating more original pieces that had my own flair to them. In late 2021, I began creating more artwork to create a portfolio and to begin my own business to sell my artwork. I have had my artwork featured in a couple of Oregon gallery shows in 2022.

Future Hopes

I will keep painting and illustrating to build my skills and express what I find important. I hope to continue selling productions and original paintings of my artwork. I would love to illustrate children’s books. I will continue working on my portfolio, so that I can connect with publishers. I have also been working on building my community on TikTok and Instagram, and I hope to eventually have a YouTube channel too. I hope to present my work in more local Oregon art shows, and participate in some local art pop-ups to sell my artwork in my community.
